The Busan Museum of Modern Art has rebranded. This project is a project to reorganize the museum’s identity and design, and a new brand image was created through citizen participation and collaboration with designers.
This project, which began in 2023 to celebrate the museum’s 5th anniversary, was carried out through a public contest, exhibition, and citizen voting, rather than the traditional bidding process. The graphic designer duo ‘Formless Twins’ was ultimately selected and worked with the museum’s dedicated organization for 5 months to complete the new MI (Museum Identity).
The new MI reflects the variability, fluidity, and expandability of contemporary art, and contains the museum's agenda of 'Nature, New Media, Human' and diversity and inclusion. In particular, the concept of 'Rhizome' was applied to establish the museum's identity in a way that is interconnected and expands.
Kang Seung-wan, director of the Busan Museum of Modern Art, said, “This project was a meaningful process in which designers, the museum, and visitors worked together to establish the museum’s identity,” and added, “We will continue to communicate with visitors and inform them of our new identity.”
