Adobe has released a new Photoshop mobile app for iPhone, which includes the core design and editing features of the desktop version, plus AI-powered creation tools. An Android version is due later this year.
Adobe has offered a mobile app called Photoshop Express since 2010, but the new app is more like the traditional desktop Photoshop experience. While Photoshop Express is more like a typical mobile editing app, the new Photoshop app offers professional editing tools.
The free version includes a spot healing brush, tap selection, layers, masks, image compositing and blending. It also includes access to Adobe Stock materials and integration with Adobe Creative Cloud apps. It also includes Adobe Firefly AI-based generative fill and generative extensions.
Additional features such as object selection, magic wand, content-aware fill, clone stamp, and remover tools are available through a paid subscription. The paid plan costs $7.99 per month or $69.99 per year and includes integration with the web version of Photoshop, color and transparency adjustments, and the ability to apply various effects. Existing Photoshop paid subscribers can also use premium features on mobile.
Adobe has not yet revealed any future plans for the original Photoshop Express, which is available as a low-cost subscription for $4.99 per month, so it is unclear whether the two apps will run concurrently.
