Nintendo Switch 2 design revealed

Nintendo has unveiled its next-generation console game machine, the Nintendo Switch 2. On the 17th, Nintendo released a teaser video of approximately 2 minutes and 20 seconds through its official website and YouTube channel, revealing its release plans for the Switch 2.

The revealed Switch 2's appearance is similar to the rendering images leaked at CES 2025, and the screen size is larger than the existing Switch. The dedicated controller, Joy-Con, is detachable like the existing one and adopts a magnetic attachment method. Like the previous model, it can be used portable or can be used to enjoy games on a TV screen through a dedicated dock.

Switch 2 will maintain compatibility with games released in the previous version. It is designed to play both packaged and downloadable versions of games. Nintendo will reveal the specific specifications and release date of the new device at the Nintendo Direct event on April 2.

Nintendo will be holding hands-on events in major cities around the world, starting with New York and Paris on April 4. In Korea, the hands-on event will be held at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, for two days starting on May 31. Participants will be selected by lottery through pre-registration.

Since its launch in 2017, the Nintendo Switch has sold approximately 146 million units worldwide, with approximately 1.3 billion copies of software sold.
