North American Aerospace Command Tracks Santa

As Christmas Eve approaches, children and families around the world wonder when Santa will arrive at their homes. To that end, platforms like the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and Google Santa Tracker provide real-time information on Santa’s journey.

Santa begins delivering presents after the children are asleep. According to past records from the NORAD Santa Tracker, Santa usually arrives in New Jersey around 10 p.m. and delivers presents in Pennsylvania and Delaware around 11 p.m. Delivery is completed around midnight across the United States.

The NORAD Santa Tracker has been running since 1959 and uses global tracking software to provide detailed information about Santa’s journey. The origin of NORAD’s Santa tracking began in 1955 when a department store held an event where the “phone number to find Santa” was incorrectly listed as NORAD’s. After receiving numerous inquiries from children, NORAD teamed up with Microsoft to create a Santa Tracker. The real-time tracking service begins at 4 a.m. ET every Christmas Eve and runs until the end of the gift delivery.

The Santa Tracking Service goes beyond simply providing location information to give children the gift of dreams and imagination.
