AI image generation platform Midjourney has launched a new project, Midjourney Patchwork. Patchwork provides an infinite canvas that helps users create unique worlds based on a consistent style and story. Just like patchwork, a pattern made by patching fabric, you can organize the overall impression and worldview in one place with multiple images. This is an essential task when making movies or games.
Users can add various elements including characters, events, and locations to the canvas and connect them to create a single story. Each canvas is called a “world” and can switch between worlds through “portals.” Collaboration features are also introduced, allowing up to 100 users to work simultaneously. Users can input text prompts or select specific image styles to automatically generate still images and text assets. Connect AI-generated characters and write scene descriptions to help develop the story. It also provides the ability to connect individual images and save them as a single continuous visual.
This can be used for a variety of creative activities such as tabletop role-playing, storyboarding, and game development. Midjourney also announced plans to expand this technology to 3D and virtual reality, increasing its competitiveness in the creative software market. However, there remains controversy over whether excessive intervention of AI technology can reduce the role of humans in the creative process. Patchwork is currently open to Midjourney users, and its future development potential is noteworthy.
