YouTube launches automatic dubbing feature

YouTube has introduced an automatic dubbing feature so that users around the world can enjoy various content without language restrictions. This feature helps users who do not know a specific language easily access content from various countries.

Automatic dubbing is now enabled on hundreds of thousands of knowledge-focused channels in the YouTube Partner Program, and will be expanded to other content types in the future. YouTube plans to further strengthen the connection between global creators and viewers through this feature.

The automatic dubbing feature is easy to use through YouTube Studio. First, upload your video in the traditional way, and YouTube will automatically detect the original language and create a dubbing in another language.

The generated dubbing can be found in the 'Languages' section of YouTube Studio. Users can review the dubbing results and, if they are not satisfied, set them to private or delete them.

You can check if the auto-dubbing feature is enabled by checking the 'Advanced Settings' menu in YouTube Studio. Here, you can preview the dubbed video and decide whether to publish it or not.

Currently, automatic dubbing dubs English videos into French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish, and videos produced in these languages are dubbed into English.

Videos with auto-dubbing will be marked with an “Auto-dubbing” label, and viewers will be able to choose between the original language and the dubbed language via the track selector. YouTube will remember the viewer’s language choice and automatically apply the same language setting to future videos.

YouTube will work with Google DeepMind and the Google Translate team to further refine its automatic dubbing technology, with “expressive voice” technology soon to be added, which will reflect the creator’s voice tone, emotions, and even the atmosphere of the surrounding environment.

A YouTube official said, “The automatic dubbing feature is an important tool for overcoming language limitations and expanding the global content ecosystem,” and added, “We will continue to work to create an environment where creators and viewers around the world can communicate more smoothly.”
