Spotify's 'Spotify Wrapped 2024' has been released. Users around the world can check their music tastes and the songs, artists, and genres they listened to the most over the past year. This year, various new features using AI have been added to provide an even more interesting experience.
The design, inspired by the reinvention of pop culture, features vibrant colors and playful layouts, delivering a bold and vibrant campaign for fans in 184 markets around the world. “This year’s design celebrates the dynamism of the year with a dynamic, high-energy color palette,” explains Rebecca Lim, Global Brand Design Director. “Layers blend and change to create something entirely new, all exponentially expanding.” The Hyperloop in “2” and “4” is a colorful representation of the journey into the future.
A notable feature is the ‘Spotify Wrapped AI Podcast’. Based on Google’s NotebookLM technology, an AI host analyzes the user’s music taste and provides a personalized podcast of 3 to 6 minutes in length. This feature is available to users in some countries, including the US, UK, and Canada.
Premium users can listen to their music listening history from the past year in more detail with the AI DJ function. The AI DJ plays songs that match the user's taste and provides professional commentary from the music editor. The AI Playlist function allows users to create their own new playlists. For example, with a simple command such as 'Create a playlist with my top genres', you can instantly receive a customized playlist.
The new 'Your Music Evolution' feature shows how your music tastes have changed over the seasons and time of year. It breaks down your listening history over a year into three major musical 'phases', with associated playlists.
Taylor Swift was the most streamed artist of the year, with over 26.6 billion streams worldwide. She was followed by The Weeknd and Bad Bunny.
The most streamed song was Sabrina Carpenter's "Espresso," with over 1.6 billion streams. In the podcast category, "The Joe Rogan Experience" was the most streamed podcast for the fifth year in a row.
Spotify Wrapped 2024 is available on mobile and desktop apps.
