We thought Apple's MacBook Pro Touch Bar was back, but it wasn't. Hong Kong-based startup ENIAC has unveiled the FlexBar, a TouchBar-like device. The FlexBar is a standalone touchscreen display compatible with Macs and Windows, connected via USB-C. It features a 10-inch 2K OLED display and a variety of shortcuts and functions that can be customized to suit your workflow.
It seems useful in an offline environment because it is separated from the laptop, especially for video editing or digital art work. For example, video editors can easily navigate the timeline, and digital artists can quickly switch brushes.
You can create custom buttons and interfaces using drag-and-drop software called FlexbarDesigner. It will be extensible through a plugin system and marketplace.
ENIAC is running a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for the project, with early backers able to pre-order for $119. The expected delivery date is set for February 2025.
