A24's New Film Y2K: A Turn-of-the-Century Micro Website

A24's new movie Y2KTo promote the film, a microsite was released that recreated the Internet sensibility of 1999. It recreated the fin-de-siècle computer desktop screen to capture the atmosphere of the time. You can access it on the film's official website (y2k.movie).

When you visit the site, you’ll be presented with an AOL Instant Messenger (AIM)-style messaging window where you can chat with an AI chatbot called “CoolBlue99.” There’s also the option to set an AIM screen name and write old-fashioned away messages. Users can create playlists of 90s pop and alternative rock through a CD-burning experience, and it’s linked to their Spotify account.

movie Y2Kis Kyle Mooney's directorial debut, a comedy set in 1999, when a technological disaster becomes a reality. It is scheduled for release on December 6.
