The 2023 Jeonju International Film Festival's planning exhibition '100 FILMS, 100 POSTERS' has been released.
What happened?
As an exhibition first introduced in 2015, 100 graphic designers design posters for 100 films invited to the Jeonju International Film Festival.
It is a poster that focuses only on expression by interpreting the core of the film, free from restrictions for commercial effects, and can only be seen at the Jeonju International Film Festival. In the meantime, it has been hosted by the quarterly GRAPHIC. There will also be a talk by curator Chae Hee-joon with participating designers Mi-Jeong Jeong, Visuals from, Chae-Ri Jeon, and Gi-Woong Hong, as well as a talk with MHTL (Makkalson, Park Lucky) and Art Director Kim Gwang-cheol, who designed the identity of the Jeonju International Film Festival.
Eye of Design
Films and posters are inextricably linked. Implicitly expressing a movie that can only be understood by spending time with lines in a single graphic has long been evaluated as the essence of graphic design.
It's cool to create graphics that are used in the market under constraints, but it also opens up fresh and new sensations to the viewer when expressed freely.

With as many as 100 posters produced, you can experience various styles without focusing on a specific artist. It's also good to take a quick look at graphic design in Korea right now. It's nice to experience the film itself, but it's cool that the film festival experience is made better only by design. Even if you haven't visited the city and haven't seen the movie, it's already an exciting experience.
