Apple WWDC22 was held on the morning of June 7th. The big news was the massive software update and the new processor, the M2 chip.

You can now customize your lock screen on your iPhone. Now that the security measures have stabilized somewhat, it seems like they’ve changed the very first screen you use on your smartphone. I think they’ve experimented with widgets on the home screen and it’s working out pretty well. I think they’re breaking down the experience into smaller chunks to give something new to the stagnant mobile OS experience.

CarPlay, which can be used in various cars, also displays the car's instrument panel. It is a challenge to Tesla. It is evolving from a software that can control the car to a software that can manage Apple's apps. Who will win in the car market?

The MacBook seems to be focusing on performance rather than design. It changed from the wedge shape of the MacBook Pro to a square shape, and MagSafe has been brought back. It also feels like a return to the features of the old MacBook. It seems to be a strategy to focus on software and performance rather than major changes in a specific category. That's probably why they made several colors, but I'm looking forward to the midnight color, which is darker than space gray.

The new macOS Ventura focuses on making continuity across devices more seamless, from just syncing back-end data to moving between displays in real time.
