America.gov, a U.S. government website created by Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia

This is the America.gov website, developed by the White House National Design Studio led by Joe Gebbia in collaboration with the U.S. General Services Administration. The U.S. government described this site as a single digital gateway for finding federal information and services.

America.gov operates by allowing users to enter questions rather than follow menus. Answers are provided based on information from official government websites. According to the site description, it searches information from over 29,000 government websites to provide guidance on passports, social security, welfare, and various administrative procedures.

The core of the design is the shift from an agency-centric navigation structure to an interactive search. While existing government websites were centered on departments and forms, America.gov starts with the user's question. Users can ask questions without an account, but it does not currently support checking application status or accessing agency records. A presidential executive order mandated future integration with Login.gov and major online services.
