Spotify has launched Reserved by Spotify, a ticket reservation feature for die-hard fans. This feature identifies top fans of specific artists and offers them the opportunity to secure two tour tickets before general sales open.
The first target audience is Spotify Premium subscribers in the United States. Only users aged 18 or older can use it. The first artist partner is Role Model. Eligible fans will receive notifications on the Spotify app and can purchase tickets before general sales begin on June 23.
Spotify identifies genuine fans based on streaming, sharing, and app usage activities. It is difficult to become a target simply by repeatedly playing music. Spotify has stated that it also monitors manipulation using bots or AI agents. It also checks the user's location to send offers to fans who are close to the concert venue.
Users can view personalized ticket offers on the Spotify home screen. They can check tour dates, available booking times, and notification settings. Once the booking window opens, users can usually purchase two tickets within about a day.
This feature addresses the issue of general fans finding it difficult to obtain tickets due to scalping and automated purchasing. At the same time, it encourages Spotify Premium subscriptions and boosts app usage. Currently, it applies only to Live Nation performances and Ticketmaster sales. Spotify plans to expand this to smaller venues and international users in the future.
