Google Calendar color selection finally added

Google Calendar has expanded its event color options. Previously, the number of colors that could be applied to individual events was limited to 11. With this update, the default colors have increased to 24, and up to 200 colors can be used via the RGB color picker on the web and Calendar API. The expanded color palette is also available in the mobile app.

This feature is an update that provides more granular color coding for different schedules. Users can more clearly distinguish meetings, personal appointments, workouts, family events, and project tasks using color. Users with busy schedules can grasp the structure of their day more quickly when they open the calendar.

This update is enabled by default. It is available to Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts. Rolling out to fast-track domains began on June 17, 2026, and general rollout will begin in stages starting June 29. Full rollout may take a few weeks.
