Montblanc has unveiled the "High Artistry Château de Versailles" collection, a quintessential expression of art and craftsmanship. This collection draws inspiration from the Palace of Versailles, a symbol of French absolute monarchy and a masterpiece of Baroque architecture. This series, meticulously recreating the grandeur and balance of Versailles, transcends mere writing instruments and becomes a work of art.
This High Artistry series, themed around the cultural heritage of humanity, opens the first chapter of the "Grandeur Collection," paying homage to the world's greatest architectural landmarks and historic sites. It begins with Versailles, the palace of Louis XIV, the Sun King. Louis XIV's emblematic sun emblem, the image of the god Apollo, and the royal seal monogram are incorporated throughout the design, allowing each pen to evoke the artistic spirit of the French monarchy.
Montblanc artisans spent over 25,000 hours handcrafting each of the six limited editions. 'Limited Edition 479' is inspired by Louis XIV's private chateau and exudes elegance with its white lacquer, yellow gold, and pearl embellishments. 'Edition 195' features green aventurine stones depicting the Orangerie garden, visually capturing the scent of oranges, so beloved by Louis XIV. 'Edition 18' captures the masonry of the palace with marble mosaics and diamond settings, while 'Edition 7' embodies the splendor of light and reflection with the Hall of Mirrors motif. 'Edition 3', of which only three pieces were produced, features a miniature engraving of the landscape leading from the Hall of Mirrors to the garden, and includes a seal-shaped cone and a hidden secret compartment.
The "Bespoke Edition," which inherits Louis XIV's philosophy of bespoke art, has also been unveiled. Invited customers can collaborate with a Hamburg atelier to create a one-of-a-kind fountain pen of their own design.
The shape of this collection is inspired by the "Endless Pen," invented by royal engineer Nicolas Bjorn in 1707. Considered the forerunner of the modern ink-reservoir fountain pen, this design is a symbolic starting point, bridging tradition and innovation, and embodies Montblanc's philosophy.
