NAVER Blog is celebrating its 22nd anniversary with a major overhaul of its brand identity and service, symbolizing its shift from being just a place for personal records to a "blog for everyone" that encourages discovery, exploration, and expanded relationships.
The new slogan is "Discovering history, making joyful connections." To reflect this, the old speech bubble icon logo has been replaced with a blinking cursor, a visual device that symbolizes the starting point of a record, and a reminder that the blog is still an "ongoing story. The new logo is composed of minimalist straight lines and faces, giving it the flexibility to adapt to a variety of screen environments, and the color combination of black and green is both legible and visible.
We've got some big changes on the horizon, too. The first is a revamp of Blog Home, which will launch on September 10th. Instead of focusing on the latest posts from your neighbors, we're now recommending a broader range of popular posts from your neighbors, content based on your visit history, and posts from users with similar interests. The AI-powered personalized recommendation algorithm will go beyond age and gender to analyze neighborhood relationships, interests, and activity history to make more precise content suggestions.
We're also enhancing empathy. We're expanding our reactions from just "like" (hearts) to six emojis, including "funny" and "amazing," and we're adding a variety of widgets to the main blog to support Q&A, polls, and other interactive features.
Through these changes, NAVER hopes that blogs will evolve from a place of discovery to a platform where users can connect with each other around their interests and form new communities. In the future, we plan to introduce community-based features such as challenges and curation sharing among like-minded bloggers in stages.
"Based on the records accumulated in blogs, we will move toward a 'blog together' where bloggers can discover new interests and trends and expand their relationships," said Lee Il-koo, head of NAVER Content Services.
