Quang San Museum Brand Design with Vietnam in Mind

Quang Xanh Museum of Fine Arts, Ho Chi Minh City's first private museum dedicated to Vietnamese art, has unveiled a new visual identity in collaboration with M — N Associates. With over 1,600 historically and culturally significant works, the museum is a precious window into the history of Vietnamese artistic identity, from the early days of Indochinese aesthetics to the dawn of modern expression. The rebranding focuses on visually embodying the museum's mission as a space for experiencing emotions and culture beyond simply appreciating art.

The core concept is "Layers of Contemplation," inspired by paintings where canvas, frame, and gesture form a unified structure. Each brushstroke is not an isolated element, but rather part of a larger rhythm, where intention and silence build to create depth. This creates a visual language where tension and harmony coexist.

The logo is based on the acronym QSAM, but the "A" is replaced with a rectangular structure symbolizing an empty frame, window, or canvas. This is not simply a name, but rather a corner of a painting, symbolizing the meeting of a brush and its edge. The QSAM Display typeface, inspired by the museum's architecture, combines sharp structures with delicate curves, while the body text uses a mix of NaN Serf and NaN Serf Sans to create a sense of spatial rhythm.

Beyond mere documentation, photographs meticulously capture surfaces, textures, and subtle nuances, revealing the tranquil world within the work. From delicate lacquer to powerful oil brushstrokes, each frame conveys the artist's breath and a momentary narrative, allowing viewers to experience a journey that transcends time and medium.

The website and printed materials design utilizes hanging indents and layered rectangular structures to reflect architectural rhythm and curation. The color palette, artwork placement, and even navigation are intentionally designed to create a quiet, immersive browsing experience. Buttons and menus are also framed, reinforcing unity and brand immersion.
