Adobe has unveiled a new feature, and the highlight is "Harmonize." First introduced at Adobe MAX 2024 as "Project Perfect Blend," this feature automatically adjusts color, lighting, shadows, and visual tone to ensure objects in a composite image blend seamlessly with their surroundings. Photoshop users can now create realistic composite images in just a few clicks. Harmonize is currently available in beta for desktop and web, and in early access for iOS.
Another key feature is "Generative Upscale." This feature can enhance image resolution up to 8 megapixels and resize images by 2x to 4x. It's ideal for enhancing older, low-resolution images or images for printing, and is considered particularly useful for photographers and social media managers. Adobe says this feature has been one of the most requested features from the user community.
Another key update is the improved Remove tool. Adobe leverages the latest Firefly image model to enable more precise and natural removal of unwanted elements from images. Beyond simply erasing objects, it automatically analyzes the background and fills it with more realistic content. For example, it can achieve natural-looking results when removing wires, background noise, and distracting elements from product photos.
Additionally, Photoshop has added a "Project" feature to its desktop beta version, allowing you to organize and share files and assets by project. This reduces the hassle of manually transferring files and facilitates smooth collaboration across teams.
Additionally, users can now select image generation models (Firefly Image 1, Image 3) via the Gen AI Model Picker when using the generative editing feature. This allows for more refined and personalized results tailored to the style of each model.
Photoshop's generative AI features are designed to accelerate user workflows and lower the barrier to entry, while also introducing Content Credentials to mitigate the risk of image manipulation. Adobe is guiding users to comply with terms and conditions that prevent the creation of illegal or harmful content, and is enhancing transparency and accountability by adding the ability to attach digital editing history to generative AI tools.
