Google announced that it is releasing 'recommended notebooks' on various topics through its AI-based research and note-taking assistant service NotebookLM in collaboration with prominent authors, researchers, media outlets, and non-profits. Users will be able to easily explore expert knowledge and insights in various fields such as health advice, travel tips, and financial analysis in notebook format.
The first collection of recommended notebooks includes The Economist, The Atlantic, Oxford University researchers, and the complete works of Shakespeare. This allows users to ask questions or delve deeper into topics rather than simply reading the original sources. Answers are cited, and the Audio Overview or Mind Map feature lets you see the key topics in the material at a glance.
This feature is an extension of the “Public Notebooks” feature that was introduced last month. According to Google, more than 140,000 notebooks have been shared in the first month since the Public Notebooks feature was introduced. Google plans to add more recommended notebooks in the future through partnerships with The Economist and The Atlantic.
“Recommended Notebooks is a great example of the potential of NotebookLM,” said Steven Johnson, editorial director at Google Labs. “We look forward to a future where thousands of notebooks will be created and shared based on information curated by a variety of experts.”
The main contents of the recommended laptops released this time are as follows.
- The secret to longevity from Eric Topol, author of 'Superagers'
- Forecast and analysis for 2025 based on The Economist's 'The World Ahead' report
- Life advice from the column 'How to Build A Life' by Arthur C. Brooks in The Atlantic
- A Scientific Guide for Travelers to Yellowstone National Park
- Data on long-term changes in human well-being provided by Oxford University researchers
- Scientific parenting advice based on psychology professor Jacqueline Nessey's newsletter 'Techno Sapiens'
- A collection of Shakespeare's complete works
- Financial analysis notebook that tracks the first quarter performance of the world's 50 largest listed companies
NotebookLM provides a function that comprehensively analyzes and summarizes various types of information such as PDFs, Google documents, websites, and YouTube videos using AI, or reconstructs them into mind maps, audio content, and podcasts. The addition of this recommended notebook is evaluated as further expanding the depth of learning and research provided by NotebookLM.
