On June 17, Kakao released a new font, Kakao Font, optimized for the digital environment, for free. In the mobile era, where typing is more familiar than handwriting and scrolling is more familiar than reading a book, this font was developed so that anyone can read and express text on the screen with ease.
'Kakao Font' consists of 'Kakao Big Font' and 'Kakao Small Font', each with a design optimized for titles and body text. The large font has a straight and spacious structure that gives a clear and solid impression even on digital screens, while the small font is designed with a simple and organized form that is good for reading long texts, increasing readability even on small screens.
This font is characterized by actively reflecting the changing digital communication culture, beyond a simple tool for conveying information. In line with the trend of the times where people communicate only with initial consonants such as 'ㅋㅋ' and 'ㅇㅇ', Kakao designed it so that the initial consonants themselves can be clearly expressed as independent letters. The size and proportion of the letters were precisely adjusted to enhance the ability to convey emotions.
We've also enhanced the text emoticon expression. Various special character combinations have been automatically organized into a single expression using the ligature function, and frequently used characters such as ':-D' and '->' are also output neatly, allowing you to convey your emotions more vividly.
Kakao fonts can be used free of charge by both individuals and businesses by applying the Open Font License (OFL), and can be easily downloaded and used from the Kakao corporate website, Sandoll Cloud, Adobe Fonts, etc.
