Samsung Electronics is drawing attention with an unusually-styled teaser video ahead of the launch of its next-generation foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Fold7. A blog post titled “Meet the Next Chapter of Ultra,” published on the Samsung US Newsroom on June 4, showed an animation of the silhouette of the new Galaxy Z Fold style product unfolding and then folding again in blue light.
In the video, Samsung doesn’t explicitly mention the product name, but it repeatedly uses the expressions “Galaxy Ultra” and “Ultra experience,” suggesting that the next-generation Z Fold may inherit the name and technology of the existing Ultra line. The description added, “This product goes beyond a simple list of specifications to deliver an Ultra experience that fuses the boundaries of artistry and engineering to elevate everyday interactions.”
This teaser is interpreted as a symbolic signal that the Galaxy foldable phone is now evolving into a high-performance flagship line under the 'Ultra' brand, beyond a simple new product announcement. Specific specifications and features will be revealed through an official announcement at a later date.
Samsung Electronics will unveil the Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 at its Unpacked event in New York City in early July. The New York Unpacked event will be the first in three years since the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 in 2022.
This Z Fold7 is known to have a much thinner thickness and improved performance than the existing one. According to the industry, the Z Fold7 is expected to have an 8.2-inch display with a standard thickness of 3.9mm when unfolded, and apply the latest Android 16 and ONE UI integrated with Galaxy AI. The Z Flip7, which will be released together, is known to have a 6.85-inch main display and ONE UI 8 operating system based on Android 15, and is known to be approximately 6.9mm thick when folded.
