Fujifilm X-Half with a good hand

Fujifilm is scheduled to release the digital camera 'X half (FUJIFILM X-HF1)' in June 2025. This product is a digital device inspired by traditional half-frame film cameras, and is characterized by its adoption of a photography method centered on vertical composition.

The X half is a compact camera weighing 240g, equipped with a 1-inch sensor and a fixed F2. 8 lens with a 32mm equivalent focal length. It uses a 3:4 shooting ratio, rather than the usual 3:2, 4:3, and 16:9, and is equipped with a vertical LCD and a vertical optical viewfinder. Users can record both videos and photos in the vertical orientation with this camera.

The product has a dedicated frame transition lever, which allows you to take pictures one at a time. In the 'film camera mode', you can set it so that you can check the results only after taking a certain number of shots (36, 54, 72), and you must directly operate the frame transition lever after taking the picture to take the next picture.

The camera features Fujifilm's color expression function, 'Film Simulation', and supports a total of 13 modes, including PROVIA, CLASSIC CHROME, and ACROS. It also features filters such as 'Grain Effect', 'LIGHT LEAK', 'HALATION', and 'EXPIRED FILM', and a 'DATE STAMP' function for recording the date on photos is also provided.

The X half can combine two vertical photos into a single image through its '2in1' function, and can transfer, edit, share on SNS, and output to an instax printer through the dedicated app 'X half'. The app allows you to adjust the background color, frame thickness, position, etc., and some collages combining videos and images are also possible.

The interface is touch-based, and the rear LCD recognizes swipes and flicks. The camera does not support RAW shooting, nor does it include image stabilization. It only supports JPEG shooting, and it maintains a fixed lens structure with a single focal length.

The camera measures 105.8mm x 64.3mm and features a Fujinon lens with a fixed focal length and a maximum aperture of f/2.4. The camera is manufactured in China and is priced at $849.99.
