Kakao has introduced a new feature to its messenger service KakaoTalk. It is a feature that provides real-time information on message input status. This feature was released as an optional experience in the laboratory section through the KakaoTalk '25.4.0' version update distributed on May 13.
This feature is a way for users to see yellow dots in real time when typing a message, notifying the other party that they are typing. This feature has already been introduced in other SNS messengers such as Telegram and Instagram, but this is the first time it has been tried in KakaoTalk. However, both parties involved in the conversation must activate this feature for the message input status to be displayed.
Kakao stated that the reason for introducing this feature was to “help users communicate without interruption and provide a natural and immersive experience like an actual offline conversation.” The intention is to reduce conversation conflicts that occur when entering messages simultaneously and help the flow continue more smoothly.
