Microsoft is celebrating its 50th anniversary by looking back on its history and highlighting its achievements. From Microsoft's tear-jerking black history shorts to retro wallpapers filled with history, they're making it a fun party.
About 50 years ago, on April 4, 1975, Bill Gates and Paul Allen founded Microsoft. Microsoft grew rapidly by developing innovative computer software such as MS-DOS, Windows, and Office. Since then, it has been quick to create software that makes users’ lives more convenient as technology advances, such as MSN Messenger, Cloud, Xbox, and Copilot.
The 50th Anniversary website features highlights of Windows, a history of how Windows has evolved over time, a history of Microsoft hardware, and a story about when Microsoft tried to scrap Windows and create a new operating system.
The 50th anniversary wallpapers have also been released. They feature the card game Solitaire, the simple graphics editing program Paint, the word processor Word, and the spreadsheet program Excel. The wallpapers can be downloaded via Microsoft’s tweet.
