AI-based search and analytics platform Perplexity has launched the ‘Deep Research’ feature, which provides expert-level in-depth analysis by performing dozens of searches and analyzing hundreds of sources to generate comprehensive reports for users’ questions.
Deep Research can be used in a variety of fields, including finance, marketing, and technology, and is also useful for personal consulting such as health, product research, and travel planning. Users can enter their questions by selecting the 'Deep Research' mode on the Perplexity website. It is currently available on the web, and will be available on iOS, Android, and Mac soon.
Combine search and coding features to read and analyze documents repeatedly and adjust your research plan. Once your research is complete, synthesize your data to create a clear report. You can also save it as a PDF or document file or convert it to a shared page.
Perplexity's Deep Research achieved an accuracy of 21.1% on 'Humanity's Last Exam', an AI system evaluation standard. This is higher than other models such as Gemini Thinking, o3-mini, o1, and DeepSeek-R1. It also achieved an accuracy of 93.9% on the 'SimpleQA' benchmark. Most research tasks are completed in less than 3 minutes, and we plan to further improve the speed in the future.
Perplexity offers Deep Research for free to make expert-level analysis tools available to everyone. However, free users can only use it a limited number of times per day, while pro users can use it unlimitedly.
