Samsung Electronics announced a multi-year partnership with Instacart to transform the grocery shopping experience with AI-powered smart refrigerators. The collaboration will allow Samsung Bespoke refrigerators to automatically detect and notify when items are in stock, and allow users to order groceries directly from their refrigerator screen.
Samsung Electronics' AI food recognition technology, 'AI Vision Inside', can identify up to 37 types of food through the camera inside the refrigerator. The technology analyzes grocery inventory to detect items that are in short supply and recommends them through Instacart's product matching API. Users can order the groceries they need right from the refrigerator screen.
The 2025 Bespoke refrigerator models will feature a 32-inch AI Family Hub Plus and a 9-inch AI Home Screen. Refrigerators that already have AI Vision Inside will receive Instacart integration via a firmware update this year.
“We will provide consumers with a more convenient kitchen experience through innovative technology,” said Seungmoon Jeong, vice president of Samsung Electronics. “Self-replenishing refrigerators are now a reality,” said Daniel Danker, chief product officer of Instacart.
This partnership focuses on enhancing user experience through technology integration in the online grocery shopping market that has grown since the pandemic. Samsung Electronics continues to strive to provide real value to consumers through kitchen innovation using smart technology.
