There is a growing possibility that Google Pay will enter Korea. Recently, the Google Wallet app that supports Google Pay was unblocked in Korea. Although the company has announced that it has no plans to enter the Korean market yet, it appears to be in the testing stage.
You can pay in Korea using the APK version of the Android program that is downloaded separately rather than through Google Play. Domestic credit check cards are not yet available.

Google Pay provides in-store payment, online payment, Google Play payment, remittance, and various ticket storage. In Korea, only Google Play payments are supported. Unlike Apple Pay or Samsung Pay, which require facial recognition, you can pay by simply unlocking your phone and holding it over your phone.
Although it cannot be officially used in Korea yet, you can make payments in Korea with a card made through the British internet bank Wise.

Google Pay uses EMV Contactless, an international standard NFC standard. Samsung Pay, tailored to the Korean card terminal environment, uses NFC rather than the MST method and international standards. One of the things that made it difficult for Apple Pay or Google Pay to enter the Korean market was the terminal, but with the introduction of these two pays, terminals will become more widely available.

There are also some critical views on Google Pay, which will be offered to Galaxy users. To work on Samsung and Google smartphones, users must set priorities. Payments for Korean Android smartphones are dominated by Samsung's Samsung Pay. Can Google Pay really provide better value than Samsung Pay?
📕 Editor's Notes
Samsung Pay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay various payment services are increasing. In order to win in this payment market, it seems that improving the experience is not enough.
Concise experiences are being standardized upwards, so it doesn't seem easy to gain an advantage with just convenient products. I think that providing an experience that changes the behavior of delivering what the customer wants to pay (money, card, smartphone) itself will make a difference.
Just as the domestic mobile Internet market changed with the spread of Wi-Fi as the iPhone was sold domestically, it is expected that payment will change in a way that is more convenient for users.
