Microsoft is integrating Copilot for personal use and Microsoft 365 Copilot for work into a single app experience. The update begins on August 18. Users can use both their personal and work/school accounts in the new Copilot app. Chats and content from personal accounts that previously used both apps together will also be migrated to the single app.
In the integrated app, you can directly access Microsoft 365 apps and files, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. You can also connect email, calendars, and cloud storage. Data for personal and work accounts will remain separate. Existing organizational security, privacy, and compliance policies will continue to apply to work accounts. The web address will also change from m365.cloud.microsoft to copilot.cloud.microsoft.
App names and icons will also be streamlined around Microsoft Copilot. Mobile and web updates will roll out first, and a preview of the new experience for Windows and Mac will begin on August 18. Full-scale deployment for desktop is scheduled for mid-September. The Podcasts feature will be discontinued, and Deep Research for consumers and Group Chat will also be removed.
This integration marks the product rollout phase of the Copilot organizational restructuring that began last March. At that time, Microsoft merged the consumer and enterprise Copilot organizations into one. The Verge reported that this app integration is part of the preparation for a broader range of Copilot 'super apps' set to be unveiled in late 2026.
