Antropic is expanding its AI collaboration platform, Claude Cowork, to mobile and web. With this update, Claude Cowork will now be available on iOS, Android, and the web, in addition to its existing desktop apps for macOS and Windows. The service expansion begins on Tuesday and will initially be available to Claude Max subscribers. It will be rolled out to users of other plans sequentially over the next few weeks.
Claude Cowork is a feature designed to allow users to work alongside AI. While previously accessible only through a desktop app, the addition of mobile and web support enables users to continue their workflows across a wider range of devices. Notably, Cowork sessions will now run in the cloud by default. This allows users to continue a session started on one device on another, making it easier to maintain their work status while on the go.
However, Antropic explains that the full Claude Cowork experience is still available in the desktop app. Some features, such as local file access, function more fully in the desktop environment. This update represents a change that expands the scope of Claude AI utilization and is expected to impact competition among mobile AI work tools and web-based AI collaboration services. The expanded device support for Claude Cowork is interpreted as a trend that brings AI agent-based work environments into everyday browser and smartphone user experiences.
