Web-based design tool Framer has unveiled its first hardware product, the 'F1'. It is a low-profile mechanical keyboard developed in collaboration with Work Louder.
The F1 is an 84-key keyboard based on the 75% layout. It features a full CNC aluminum body, with the top plate finished in silver anodizing and the bottom plate in gunmetal anodizing. The keycaps are made of Dye Sub PBT, and it is equipped with two programmable aluminum knobs and a 310×100 resolution color LCD display.
The switches use custom-made MX-based tactile switches by Work Louder. They feature a 55g actuation force and a two-stage spring structure, and support hot-swapping. Framer explained that they personally adjusted the materials and structure to ensure durability.
Wireless connectivity is also supported. It can store up to three devices via Bluetooth and is compatible with macOS, Windows, and Android environments. The battery has a capacity of 3,000mAh.
Recently, Framer has been rapidly expanding its AI-based website creation capabilities. By adding generative features such as Wireframer and Workshop, it is broadening its scope beyond a simple prototyping tool to become a production platform. The F1 also appears to be an extension of this trend.
In particular, the fact that design tool companies are directly designing physical input devices is connected to recent trends in the design industry. It is a move to expand the brand experience to include the entire work environment, not just the software experience.
F1 is currently in a pre-release state and is scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2026.
