The LED vehicle traffic light auxiliary device developed by Tresys is entering the nationwide rollout phase and is attracting attention as a new alternative in the field of traffic safety. This device operates by mounting LED modules on existing traffic light poles to display signals of the same color as the main signal. Its key feature is that it is designed to help drivers recognize the signal ahead more easily.
In domestic road environments, it is not uncommon for traffic lights to be obscured by large vehicles or for signals to be difficult to see due to surrounding obstacles such as street trees, banners, and parked vehicles. Weather conditions like rain, fog, and condensation also contribute to reduced visibility. Tresis’s traffic light assist device was developed to address these limitations. By applying a structure that carves a groove into the traffic light pole and inserts an LED module, it enhances driver visibility while integrating with existing signal systems.
The actual effectiveness is also noteworthy. Tresis conducted a pilot installation in Jeonju and Gunsan for approximately four months in 2022, and the results of the effectiveness analysis showed that the number of vehicles violating traffic signals decreased by 671 TP3T and the number of vehicles violating stop lines decreased by 781 TP3T. User satisfaction was also found to be high, exceeding 97 points. This is why it is being evaluated as a system that can help reduce traffic accidents and alleviate citizen inconvenience.
The product's competitiveness is also evident. By using aluminum, it is resistant to corrosion and achieves lightweight design. It features IP67 waterproof performance to withstand heavy rain and snow, and maintenance convenience has been enhanced as only the LED module needs to be replaced in the event of a malfunction. A dimming function that automatically adjusts brightness according to day and night conditions and seasonal changes has also been implemented. This approach aims to overcome the durability limitations of conventional steel traffic lights.
This device passed the National Police Agency's Traffic Safety Review in 2023 and was adopted as a standard specification in 2024. In the same year, it was also designated as an innovative product by the Public Procurement Service, laying the foundation for entry into the public market. Currently, installation is expanding to various regions, including Samcheok, Gimje, and Dangjin.
