Figma Make, powered by Google Gemini 3 Pro

Figma has unveiled the Gemini 3 Pro as a Figma Make experimental model. Each time Figma introduces a new AI model, it evaluates its accuracy in design execution, reduces iteration, and expands the scope of creative exploration. In this test, the Gemini 3 Pro excelled at exploring a variety of layouts and styles, and demonstrated reliable performance in implementing interactions and motion.

Figma Chief Design Officer Loredana Chrysan and co-founder Dylan Field conducted their own design experiment. Field created a Thanksgiving-themed golden leaf Gratitude Board and requested SVG generation and physics-based animation in Make. The initial scene featured a gently fluttering leaf effect, and with further guidance, this experience expanded into an interactive experience where guests' thank-you notes appeared as leaves, revealing their content when hovered over.

Even in our year-end event RSVP page experiment, the Gemini 3 Pro handled the rapid shifts in design tone. After completing a dark, futuristic style with a Y2K vibe and functional forms, the Gemini 3 Pro immediately transitioned to a concrete poetry style, maintaining its structure and interactivity while delivering a completely different aesthetic. Motion and interaction details were also created to match each style, allowing for a seamless navigation experience.

Its performance was also demonstrated in design system-based work. When asked to switch background styles in a Pigjam template built with the Figma UI3 library, Gemini 3 Pro generated twelve background styles and implemented transition animations and layer effects for memo objects. Its high level of understanding of the system environment also resulted in results that can be used as a reference for actual product roadmaps.

Figma emphasized that this release will further expand the role of designers. As AI models develop design literacy, they explain, the scope of creative exploration will expand, establishing a flow where speed and creativity don't conflict. Gemini 3 Pro can be enabled in the Experimental Models section of the Figma settings menu.
