Color-blind Cheetos and Doritos

Frito-Lay, a PepsiCo subsidiary responsible for the snack business, has launched its "Simply NKD" line, targeting health-conscious consumers for this holiday season. The line eliminates artificial colors and flavors from its flagship Doritos and Cheetos products.

This new product line consists of four varieties: Doritos Nacho Cheese, Cool Ranch, Cheetos Puffs, and Flamin' Hot Cheetos. All products are made with natural ingredients, excluding synthetic colors like Red 40, Yellow 5, and Yellow 6. Frito-Lay describes them as "a snack reborn with clean ingredients that retain the familiar taste while being 'coloring- and flavor-free.'".

‘"Simply NKD," as its name suggests, is "naked," meaning a snack stripped of unnecessary additives. Doritos stated, "We improved the product to meet the growing consumer demand for transparency and naturalness of ingredients." This movement coincides with the growing "clean label" trend in the United States, and the food industry as a whole is seeking change amidst government efforts to strengthen regulations on artificial additives.

‘The 'Simply NKD' series will begin taking pre-orders through major distribution channels, including Walmart, starting in late November, and will be fully released starting in early December.

Experts believe that this line represents Frito-Lay's full-fledged response to the healthy food trend. Eliminating artificial additives is more than just a marketing strategy; it's likely to lead to greater sustainability and reliability in the global snack market.

Frito-Lay's 'Simply NKD' is not just a product with changed ingredients, but is also attracting attention as a symbolic step toward a health-focused reorganization of the snack market.
