Netflix's Visual Studio Eyeline Branding

Netflix's visual innovation studio, Eyeline, has unveiled a new visual identity in collaboration with Ross York. At its core is the simple yet iconic concept of the "pixel." This small unit, the idea that the entire visual world expands from a single point, serves as a starting point for Eyeline's simultaneous expression of both technology and creativity.

Eyeline is comprised of three divisions: VFX, Studio, and Labs. Ross York created a graphic DNA of structure and precision shared by all three divisions, assigning each area a color. Studio is red, VFX is green, and Labs is blue, representing the RGB spectrum and symbolizing the fundamental forces of video production.

The pixel concept evolved into an infinitely expandable grid system. This modular structure reflects how Eyeline navigates the world of filmmaking, digital workflows, and research and development. The grid adapts freely to the context, yet maintains an underlying order, demonstrating a "balance of precision and flexibility." "Eyeline is systematic when necessary, and experimental when the possibilities open up," explains Mabian. "It's a visual embodiment of that identity.".

The typography combines ITC Garamond Light Narrow and Netflix Sans. The former symbolizes the human warmth of film, while the latter embodies the precision of digital. The tension between these two distinct typefaces visualizes the brand philosophy of "the union of imagination and engineering.".
