Nothing Phone 3a Lite, a budget smartphone unveiled

British tech brand Nothing has unveiled the fourth smartphone in its 2025 lineup, the Phone 3a Lite. Priced at €249, it's essentially a redesign of the CMF Phone 2 Pro, which launched earlier this year.

The new product inherits the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro chipset, 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, 8GB of RAM, 5000mAh battery, and triple camera configuration with 50-megapixel wide-angle, 50-megapixel telephoto, and 8-megapixel ultra-wide. Nothing guarantees the Phone 3a Lite with three years of Android major OS updates and six years of security patches, and the Android 16 update is expected to be provided early next year.

Unlike the CMF phone, the design uses glass instead of plastic. The existing "Glyph Lights" are gone, leaving only a single LED on the lower right, called the "Glyph Light." While the camera position remains the same, the overall design follows the design language of the Nothing Phone 3.

The phone will be available in the European Union, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, East Asia, and Southeast Asia, but will not be sold in the United States. Interestingly, it will be priced at €249 in Europe, the same as the CMF Phone 2 Pro, potentially causing consumer confusion.

Another feature is the lock screen advertising feature. Nothing has included the "Lock Glimpse" service as a default feature in this model. This feature displays news and content links on an automatically changing background, a form of advertising. However, the feature can be disabled in the settings menu or during the initial setup process.

On the software side, it runs on Nothing OS 3.5 and Android 15, with higher-end models soon to upgrade to OS 4.0. With a large 6.77-inch screen and a large battery, the company claims it can last up to 22 hours of video playback or 9 hours and 30 minutes of gaming. The rear camera features Samsung's 50-megapixel sensor, and also supports AI image editing, RAW shooting, Google's Ultra XDR format, night mode, and motion capture.

The Phone 3a Lite comes in two colors: black and white. While Nothing's signature transparent design has been toned down, it maintains its original philosophy with a streamlined form and "Glyph Light" interface that embodies the brand's identity.
