Denmark's representative audio brand Bang & Olufsen has released the Atelier Limited Edition 'Art Deco' collection to commemorate its 100th anniversary. This limited edition is drawing attention by combining the history of the brand, which was founded in the 1920s, with the Art Deco style, a design style that was popular at the time.
Art Deco is characterized by bold geometric patterns and the use of luxurious materials, and this aesthetic is fully reflected in this collection. The components are the brand’s flagship products, the Beolab 28 speaker and the Beovision Theatre soundbar, both limited to 100 units.
The Violab 28 features a lamella panel that harmoniously combines deep-toned rosewood and chestnut-toned aluminum, expressing the rhythmic feel of Art Deco through the contrast of wood and metal. The floating acoustic lens is surrounded by an elaborate radial ring, and does not miss out on the visual beauty of the model.
The Biovision Theater Soundbar delivers a classic sense of grandeur with a radial wood cover on the top reminiscent of the sun. This is inspired by the sunray motif often seen in Art Deco architecture, and also plays a functional role in contributing to sound penetration and dispersion.
Both products feature delicate geometric patterns on their surfaces, with 100 subtle lines hidden within them, containing a message commemorating the 100th anniversary of the company’s founding. These details are interpreted as devices that symbolically convey the brand’s sense of time and philosophy, rather than simply being decorative.
This limited edition Atelier was designed by Bang & Olufsen’s customization department, Atelier, and each set includes a handcrafted rosewood case and an engraved Beolimote. Prices start at around $65,000 and are available exclusively at a limited number of Bang & Olufsen stores worldwide and on the official website.
