NotebookLM is a tool that helps you understand complex information more easily, providing smart summaries and document-based question-answering. In addition to these features, this mobile app has a new feature called Audio Overviews. It provides audio in the form of AI-summarized podcasts based on documents or materials uploaded by users, and can be played in the background or listened to offline.
App users can add documents or check existing materials in each notebook, and can easily add websites, PDFs, YouTube videos, etc. to NotebookLM through the share icon. This is a method that utilizes Google's share sheet, and provides great convenience in collecting and organizing content.
The in-app interface can be sorted by a variety of filters, including recent, shared notebooks, title, and downloads, and each notebook is displayed as a card with an emoji, number of items, creation date, and an audio playback button. There is also a beta version of the ‘Join’ feature, which allows you to continue a conversation with an AI host.
At the bottom of the screen, there is a list of resources, a Q&A conversation, and a studio function, which is similar to the existing mobile web experience but provides a more stable native app experience. However, the latest design system, Material 3, is not reflected yet.
The NotebookLM mobile app automatically applies light and dark modes based on the user's system settings and provides a UI for both phones and tablets.
