Design studio Waiting for Ideas has unveiled the aluminum PP-1 turntable, which plays vinyl records without a tonearm. Made from a single block of aluminum, the product looks like a sculpture. Users simply plug it in, flip over a vinyl record, and press the play button on the side to listen to music without any additional operations.
This turntable features automatic 33RPM and 45RPM detection and automatic track switching. It combines traditional vinyl player and digital technology to simplify the user experience while applying advanced technology.
The right button is a multi-function knob that controls play, pause, next track, previous track, and volume. The design team also created a separate custom speaker that can be connected to the turntable. The box-shaped speaker, wrapped in black fabric, is designed to be connected to the player and output sound.
This product operates stably even when standing upright thanks to its solid aluminum body. Vinyl records will spin while placed on the device, but will not fall.
The Aluminum PP-1 Turntable will be officially released on a made-to-order basis on February 27, 2025.
