Images of Jaguar’s new electric concept car have leaked ahead of its official unveiling at Miami Art Week. The concept is a significant model that foreshadows Jaguar’s future electric design language. It features a flowing silhouette with a long bonnet and low body, and a racing helmet-like design reminiscent of the Jaguar E-Type and XJS of the past.
One of the most striking features of this vehicle is the absence of a rear window. Instead, a camera and digital screen are installed to secure rearward visibility. The side windows taper towards the rear to form a single glass house, and the A-pillar is hidden to complete the clean appearance. The front features a thin LED strip with a new lighting signature and a bluff-style grille motif.
The concept car embodies Jaguar’s philosophy of ‘doing nothing’ with a simple, monolithic design that stands apart from existing Jaguar models. Large wheel arches house large wheels, and the new Jaguar emblem is housed in a metal panel near the front wheels, which houses the rear camera.
The concept car will be the first in a lineup of electric vehicles that Jaguar plans to launch from 2026. The first production electric GT is expected to deliver more than 575bhp and a range of more than 430 miles. It will likely cost more than £100,000, putting it in direct competition with the Porsche Taycan.
Jaguar is accelerating a brand realignment following its announcement of a fully electric vehicle in 2021, and this concept car will be an important starting point for that change.
