Apple emoji sneakers have arrived in the real world. Designer Jose Wong has created the Shoe 1, a sneaker that brings Apple's sneaker emoji to life.
Shoe 1 is made of mesh material and full-grain nubuck leather for breathability, and the midsole and heel use EVA foam and polyurethane rim for a more comfortable fit. The outsole is made of 5% recycled rubber, which also takes environmental responsibility into consideration. The inside of the insole is printed with an image of the A5 processor to commemorate Apple's A series chips.
The packaging design is also inspired by Apple’s product packaging. Shoe 1 is delivered in a clean, intuitive, minimalistic package that resembles Apple’s iconic design language. In addition to the shoes, socks and hats inspired by Apple emojis were also produced to complete the overall emoji fashion.
The silhouette of Shoe 1 is similar to the New Balance 574, and it also draws attention to the connection with the New Balance sneakers that Steve Jobs loved to wear. Unlike the New Balance 991 or 992 models that Jobs loved to wear, these sneakers are modern while faithfully reproducing the familiar design of the emoticon.
It's priced at $219.90 and comes in US sizes 5 to 12. Shipping begins approximately one week after purchase.
