Apple Podcasts: Web Version Launched

Apple Podcasts is now available for streaming on the web, announced today, in over 170 countries across Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. Web streaming has been available before, but now you can access features that were previously only available in the app.

Access your library and popular lists, and subscribe to premium podcasts. Browse and listen to podcasts even if you don't have an Apple account.

Easy access to podcasts from different countries. podcasts.apple.comType / followed by the country code to browse popular podcasts in that area. This is useful if you want to learn a language or listen to local news. Some episodes are region-locked, but most are available.

It's amazing how Apple is evolving their web products without using the App Store. They're now cross-platform, even if you don't have a Mac, and they're great for desktop use.

There is a difference in the weight between opening a separate program and opening one of the browsers. On mobile, if you access the same address, it will connect to the app.

It seems like a strategy to get more audiences to use Apple Podcasts. It seems like it may not be unrelated to the antitrust lawsuits in the EU and the US.
