Samsung's Galaxy Ring, which has been building anticipation with teasers for months, has finally been unveiled. Samsung held its Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, France, and revealed detailed specifications about the Galaxy Ring.
It has a concave structure that prevents scratches while looking thin. It comes in three colors: gold, silver, and black with a titanium frame. It comes in nine sizes from 5 to 13, and you can get a size kit to measure your size without visiting the store. It weighs 2.3g to 3g depending on the size. It has an IP68 water/dustproof rating that protects against solids and liquids at the highest level, with a 10ATM water resistance that can withstand a pressure of about 100m.
It comes with a separate charging case, just like a Bluetooth wireless earphone. It has a rounded square shape and a structure similar to a ring box, and it is transparent so you can see the inside. Depending on the color of the ring, the color inside the case is reflected and shines. I think the Samsung logo on the front could have been omitted. The ring can be used for 6~7 days and takes 80 minutes to fully charge.
The ring does not vibrate or display LEDs to indicate product status. It is recommended that you manage your health using your smartphone rather than using the ring itself. It is only available on the Android platform and can be managed with the Samsung Health app. You can control your smartphone's camera or dismiss notifications with a double-pinch gesture.
It provides an accelerometer, optical heart rate sensor, and skin temperature sensor, and can track sleep and heart rate activities. It introduces AI-based indicators to understand moods based on sleep, activity, sleep heart rate, and sleep heart rate variability. It provides personalized health management suggestions based on the collected information. Unfortunately, it does not provide sleep apnea detection and irregular heart rate notifications provided by the Galaxy Watch.
It will be priced at $400 and will be officially released on July 24th.
