Spotify introduces AI-powered playlist creation feature. Spotify has created several features over the years to help users discover new music. We have successfully established AI DJ, which analyzes your tastes and recommends appropriate music at the exact moment, and Daylist, which recommends music between sunrise and sunset for a specific day or moment. Now, we can go one step further and allow users to actively collect what they want.

You can select AI Playlist by pressing the + button in the My Library tab. Just like existing AI tools, you write a written prompt and it creates a playlist to match. Prompts can include places, animals, activities, movie characters, colors, and even emojis. Based on data accumulated by Spotify, playlists are created by combining music from various eras, including genre, mood, and artist.

From low-context prompts such as simple keyword searches such as “cafe background music” or “work-focused music,” to those that describe puzzling atmospheres such as “music that fights as the protagonist of a zombie apocalypse” or “music that enjoys horseback riding in the sunset.” You can even write high-context prompts. To prevent issues resulting from inappropriate prompts and creation, we created a guardrail that does not answer aggressive prompts, prompts about recent real-life events, or specific brands.

You can also refine the playlist you created with prompts like “more pop” or “more upbeat.” You can also manually remove music you don't like.

The new feature is available in beta starting with premium subscribers using the Android and iOS apps in the UK and Australia. The official release schedule has not yet been revealed. Have these new challenges had an impact? Spotify is about to raise its prices. Under the new pricing plan, individual plans will increase by about $1 per month, while family plans and the so-called Duo plan for couples will increase by $2 per month.
