Cadmus, an edtech company providing assessment solutions to universities in Australia, the UK, and the US, has completed a nine-month comprehensive rebranding in collaboration with brand design studio LoveWork.
Cardmus operates a comprehensive assessment platform for universities. Well-designed assessments significantly impact student achievement and simplify educators' work. Cardmus aims to improve assessment for both teachers and students through comprehensive and intelligent products.
This rebranding encompasses all aspects of the brand, including strategy, identity, digital design, website, social media, communications, and events. Under the motto "Uplifting Assessment," the new brand features a refined, holistic aesthetic that better reflects the visual appeal of universities using the platform.
Colors inspired by the Renaissance era
The new brand's most striking feature is its color selection. Designers drew on colors from Renaissance paintings to create a rich palette, a contemporary reinterpretation of that era's flourishing education.
The quill logo, Cadmus's signature, has also been refined. It now displays elegant movement. The illustration continues this theme, depicting modern students grappling with assessment topics in a hand-drawn manner.
Putting fun into the process
The Loveworks team wanted to reflect the Cardmus team's passion for fun and education in their work, incorporating play into the process. They got messy in Miro, got wild in Figma, and got funky in Photoshop. Then they sketched, sculpted, and systematized the brand.
The two teams worked side by side, communicating continuously through Slack, Zoom, and in-person meetings. Together, they developed a strategy, created an identity, designed a website, and laid the foundation for future digital experiences.
A class worthy of a university level
The results were a success. The new brand and platform now provide an uplifting experience for educators, students, and the universities that use the platform.
