Italian design studio Ethereo, in collaboration with Studio Twenty Seven, has unveiled the Modulo collection. Launched on January 27, 2026, the collection explores the relationship between transparency and structure, drawing on the radical experiments in architectural glass of the 1970s. By partially revealing the metal internal structure between deep green glass blocks, the collection creates a tension between what is visible and what is hidden. While the surface appears solid, the linear framework within commands the eye, simultaneously emphasizing materiality, balance, and the flow of light.
Modulo consists of five sculptural furniture pieces. Each piece features a glass block with subtle variations in tone and luminosity, ensuring that even when the same combination is repeated, the result will be different. Positioned as a limited-edition collectible design, the modular repetition maintains the uniqueness of each piece while preserving its originality. This approach transforms pure volume into architectural form, establishing it as a central object in a space.
The modular console is composed of three glass cubes, creating a coexistence of thickness and refined lines. The metal structure that crosses the core serves as both a visual anchor and an engineering solution for load-bearing. Proportions and balance are carefully crafted to maintain the weighty presence of the glass while maintaining a light, airy appearance.
The Modulo Floor Lamp is a tower-shaped structure made of vertically stacked green glass bricks. The central luminescent core and metal wick create depth, creating a different expression as you walk around. Available in three heights, it blurs the line between lighting and sculpture.
The Modulo table boasts a monumental scale. Its structure utilizes two metal channels to distribute the weight of its large tabletop. Referencing iconic Italian dining tables from the 1970s, it forms an architectural focal point within the room.
The Modulo Poumua coffee table features layered glass cubes that create a watery, light-filled effect. A satin-finished square basin sits at the center, serving as a storage area for ice for chilling wine bottles or displaying objects. The composition is characterized by its incorporation of functionality without disrupting the continuity of the surrounding glass. The Modulo side table refines the collection's language on a smaller scale. A circular mirrored steel tray at the top gently intertwines the angular structure of the glass, while a metal stripe running down the center hints at the solid core within.
Ethereo, founded by Stefania DiGregorio and Mirco Sala Tenna, collaborates with principal architect Enrico Serventi. Combining architectural rigor with emotional narrative, they propose collectible objects that transcend functionality. The Modulo collection extends the paradox of how transparent materials can reveal structure more clearly into design language.
