Apple announced that its annual developer event, WWDC 2025, will be held online from June 9 to 13. The in-person event for developers and students will be held at Apple Park on June 9.
This year’s WWDC is expected to focus more on operating system (OS) overhauls than AI. Six operating systems, including iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16, will be significantly overhauled. iOS, which has had little visual change for a long time, is expected to see its biggest change since iOS 7 in 2013. According to Bloomberg, the new design is expected to be inspired by Apple’s Vision Pro interface, introducing rounder icons and translucent menus.
Apple announced that it would strengthen Siri's AI capabilities, but with the release delayed until next year, it seems that it is focusing on the OS rather than AI. Recently, there has been controversy over false advertising of 'Apple Intelligence' and criticism over the delay in AI response.
Developers will be able to learn about new features through a variety of online sessions and 1:1 meetings, including a keynote and Platform State of the Union. Additionally, the top 50 Swift Student Challenge winners will be invited to a special 3-day event in Cupertino.
It’s unlikely that any new hardware will be announced at WWDC this year, but there’s a chance the Mac Pro will be revealed. The keynote will be live-streamed on Apple’s official website, YouTube, and Apple TV.
