LG has unveiled its first 6K monitor with Thunderbolt 5 support, the UltraFine 6K Display, at CES 2025. The 32-inch monitor features a Nano IPS Black panel and offers a color gamut of Adobe RGB 99.5% and DCI-P3 98%. LG says the display offers excellent color accuracy and high contrast.
Thunderbolt 5 supports data throughputs of up to 80 Gbps, and up to 120 Gbps in Bandwidth Boost mode. This could potentially enable high refresh rates at 6K resolution. However, LG has not yet disclosed details about the exact resolution, refresh rate, etc. of the display.
This monitor adopts a thinner bezel design compared to the existing LG UltraFine 5K, and features a symmetrical screen configuration. It is also expected to provide a height-adjustable stand. The display’s material has not been clearly revealed, but it is possible that it will be made of metal.
The LG UltraFine 6K Display is said to be compatible with Thunderbolt 5-enabled devices such as Apple’s latest MacBook Pro and Mac Mini, and is also expected to support Pro Motion technology. Pricing and availability have not yet been announced. LG plans to increase its competitiveness in the display market with this product.
