Apollo Instruments has announced the DSKY Moonwatch, a wristwatch that replicates the DSKY computer interface used in space exploration missions. DSKY was the core computer interface that connected the astronauts to the guidance, navigation, and control systems of the spacecraft, providing real-time data and the ability to enter commands.
The Moonwatch consists of three parts. The small screen on the right shows the time, date, time zone, stopwatch, alarm, and GPS navigation, and uses a seven-segment display and electroluminescent lighting. The side screen replicates the operating routines and interfaces of space exploration. Below it is a keypad with 19 buttons, allowing the Moonwatch to be used as a wearable computer.
The design is made of precision CNC-machined stainless steel with a military-grade ceramic coating. The strap is made of Italian Nappa leather and a stainless steel clasp. The display is sealed with a German Schott glass panel that is anti-reflective and scratch-resistant.
The Moonwatch is designed to be programmable. The back has a micro USB port and an I/O port for bootloader programming support. Users can set a variety of data formats, including the format used by astronauts.
Apollo Instruments says the Moonwatch was inspired by space exploration. The product is available for pre-order now and is scheduled to ship in the first quarter of 2025.
