Manchester City has launched an AI-based kit design platform in partnership with global sportswear brand Puma, giving fans the opportunity to design the club’s official third kit for the 2026-27 season using a text-to-image AI generator.
The Puma AI generator was developed by Deep Object, an artificial intelligence technology company. After creating an account, users input the design they want as text, and the AI suggests four design options. The generated design can be modified for details such as color, badge, and color.
Participants will be given 15 credits, with one credit used to create one design. However, the maximum number of designs that can be entered into the contest is limited to two. The final winner will be chosen by expert assessment by Manchester City and Puma and voting by fans. The contest will run until December 20, and the selected kit will be used as the official third kit for the 2026-2027 season.
Manchester City goalkeepers Ederson, Stephan Ortega and Rico Luis have already used the generator to create goalkeeper kits inspired by the goal net, which will go down in football history as the first ever AI-generated kit.
The project started with the intention of providing innovative experiences and new ways for fans and clubs to communicate. Ivan Dashkov, Puma’s head of technology marketing, emphasized that AI technology will help fans feel closer to football.
