Google has launched the 'Fitbit Ace LTE' after two years of collaboration with design studio 'Koto'.
The Fitbit Ace LTE is a smartwatch for kids. Google acquired Fitbit, a company that makes activity-tracking wearable devices, in 2001. It created a new brand with the mission to get the game-loving generation moving more.
We designed it to be a bold, fun, weird and lovable brand focused on fun for fun's sake. We help you enjoy games that were traditionally meant to be experienced sitting down outside.
Inside the watch lives an avatar called 'Easy'. The more the child moves, the happier Easy becomes. It's an experience reminiscent of the 'Tamagotchi' that was popular in the 90s.
The overall impression is inspired by the squirrel shape of the watch. Inspired by Google's avatar character and watch band design, we developed a font called Eejie-type Sans. It has a uniquely expanded and reduced form that reflects the active nature of children.
